Cal State Innovate not only fosters innovation at the Chancellor’s Office, but also at the campus level with various initiatives. Whether it’s a minigrant project scaling up to serve a wider audience or a collaborative idea to serve a current need, Cal State Innovate contributes by researching, developing, launching, and iterating prototypes and solutions to benefit the CSU.
Existing Projects

Cal State Ready
A cross-functional team of designers, developers, project managers and subject matter experts from the Chancellor’s Office, Fresno State, Cal State Long Beach, CSUN and Cal State San Bernardino collaborated to build a custom Amazon Alexa skill so that high school counselors and prospective Cal State students can access information about Cal State and the admissions process using simple, natural language questions.
The project launched in fall 2019 and benefited many students.

Cal State XR
A partnership with Fresno State’s Hub for Digital Transformation and Innovation (DXI), the Cal State XR Sandbox is a immersive space where participants explore the benefits of the metaverse in regards to teaching and learning.
Accessible via desktop or a head mount device, the Sandbox encompasses virtual classrooms, game spaces, lounges, and other venues that CSU members can utilize. Cal State XR also periodically hosts webinars to explain the technology behind XR as well as guided tours of the XR Sandbox.
