Extended Reality Common Interest Group

Cal State Innovate is delighted to support the Extended Reality Common Interest Group (XR CIG), open to all faculty and staff that are interested in VR and AR in teaching and learning across the system. The CIG is co-chaired by Dr. Sean Hauze, director of instructional technology services at San Diego State, and Dr. Mihaela Popescu, professor of Media Studies and Faculty Director, xREAL Lab (ITS). The XR CIG has the following goals:

  • Fostering community and collaborations across the CSU and beyond;
  • Exploring applications of extended reality (XR) in the classroom;
  • Sharing research and the scholarship of teaching and learning with and about XR;
  • Finding opportunities to collaborate with the community, exploring public-private partnerships, and considering XR for the public good;
  • Providing pathways to develop practical skills in CSU students and advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion in technology-rich learning environments

The group meets monthly throughout the academic year. You may access the meeting presentations on the XR CIG YouTube playlist. If you’d like to learn more, please email Cal State Innovate at innovate@calstate.edu.
