Campus Creativity and Digital Literacy

The California State University system has partnered with Adobe to provide Creative Cloud Pro Edition to faculty, staff and students at all campuses. Adobe Creative Cloud is a collection of 20+ desktop and mobile applications for photography, design, video, web, user experience, 3D, and AR/VR. It also includes services like collaboration across all of your devices, access to thousands of fonts, and Adobe Stock content. The Creative Cloud ecosystem provides a unique opportunity for students to develop digital literacies through multimedia assignments and projects in the classroom. These digital literacies can be developed across the curriculum and contribute to greater student success within and beyond the classroom and to career pathways in the modern workplace.

CSU Adobe Creative Campuses

Congratulations to these CSU campuses that have made digital literacy a part of their university’s strategic goals and have gone above and beyond to integrate Adobe creative solutions into student learning and development!

Cal State CREATE

Adobe Creative Cloud and Cal State CREATE

Cal State CREATE is a CSU-wide creative event and competition in collaboration with Adobe and Apple. Similar to Adobe Creative Jams, CSU students of all majors have the opportunity to explore creative tools and design unique, personal projects eligible for prizes.

2024 “Future Ready in the CSU”

This year’s theme, “Future Ready in the CSU”, explores areas of emerging technologies, career readiness, and what it means to be prepared for our evolving world. How does healthcare use virtual reality to help with patient care? How does agriculture use predictive algorithms to help with harvests? How do creatives use generative AI to supplement their creations? To kick off Cal State CREATE events, a panel of professionals from various industries shared their experiences of how technology and digital literacy shape their work and help with their success.

Following the kick off session, Apple and Adobe professionals hosted sessions talking about trends in the workplace, how to best leverage AI, and how to maximize current tools in each product suite. If you had class, work, or other commitments and could not attend Cal State CREATE sessions, you can watch the recordings on the Cal State CREATE YouTube PlaylistPlease note that sessions with Apple employees were NOT recorded.

2023 “You Belong Here”

The theme, which couldn’t have been more appropriate for the time, was “How do you define belonging? Is it family, friends, a club/organization? Maybe it’s your major or a geographic place that feels like home? However you experience a sense of belonging, we invite you to visually tell your story.”

The event started on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, with featured keynote speakers and concluded on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, with an award ceremony. Specialized workshops were scheduled within the event to help participants enhance their creative toolkits and interact with creative industry professionals. Students had the option to put their imagination to the test and participate in a design competition for prizes from our industry partners.

Students participated in a visual design competition solo or in a maximum group of three to create an artifact with Adobe Express that told their personal story of belonging.
